Three TV journalists from the Al Jazeera network - accused of spreading false news - have been sentenced to three years in prison at a re-trial in Egypt.

Mohammed Fahmy, Peter Greste and Baher Mohammed had already spent more than a year behind bars before they were released on bail.

The three were first detained in December 2013 - sparking international criticism over concern for press freedom and human rights.

Australian journalist Peter Greste, who was deported to Australia in February and is unlikely to be imprisoned, has tweeted saying he's shocked, outraged, angry and upset.
