It looks like there could be four concerts held in Croke Park this year. Aiken Promotions is to apply for permission to hold a show at the stadium on Thursday May 17th.

It's not yet known what show the promoters intend to put on.

If approved, it would mean that Croke Park would be staging more than its allocated three concerts a year.

The stadium's Director has sent a letter to local residents, warning them that a notice about the intention to hold a fourth summer show will appear in newspapers tomorrow.

In it, Peter McKenna explains that, if granted, the May 17th show would be the "only event or match" scheduled to be held that month.

He also pointed out that, with the added date, the total number of events held in Croke Park in 2018 would still be one less than last year.

Taylor Swift is already booked to play two nights in June, while Michael Bublé will perform one night in July.

Patrick Gates, Chairperson of the Clonliffe and Croke Park Residents Association has described holding extra events as "a nuisance".

"We're happy to put up with all that for all of the games and the three permitted events, but we're saying enough is enough", he told 98FM News.

Croke Park was set a limit of three live shows a year following crowd concern from local residents, and it's also part of the reason Garth Brooks fell out of love with Ireland.

The country music superstar cancelled five shows planned for 2014, after Dublin City Council told him he could only stage three of them in Croke Park.
