The Rugby World Cup, the Women's World Cup in Australia, Ryan Tubridy and Smash Burgers are just some of the most common Google searches this year.

The website has released its annual list of the most frequent searches, which in 2023 also featured 'How to claim rent tax credit' and 'How to solve a Rubik's cube'.

The two top spots were held by Ireland's major sporting events which took place this year, those, of course, being The Rugby and the Women's World Cup.

The release of two blockbuster movies also caused people to do some research online, with 'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer' being the two most searched films of the last 12 months. People specifically wanted to know 'What is Oppenheimer about?'

TikTok viral recipes got us cooking this year and we turned to Google to get some more details on Viking Toast, Marry Me Chicken and Smash Burgers.

The Pornstar Martini was the second most searched recipe on the website, but 'How to drink a Pornstar Martini' seems to have been even more important, with that coming in as the fourth most asked 'how to' question of the year.

Ryan Tubridy is the fourth most searched person while Patrick Kielty is the seventh most searched person on the list.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, 'What is a barter account' also featured high on this years list of questions.

In a year where many Irish music legends sadly passed away it's no surprise that  several featured on the Losses list including Sinead O’ConnorShane McGowan and Christy Dignam.

Irish people also searched for other notable losses from around the world, Matthew Perry, Tina Turner and Lisa Marie Presley all feature on the list.

'How to claim rent tax credit' was the most searched question of the year in Ireland.
