* There are a number of power outages around the city in the aftermath of Storm Callum. Parts of Crumlin, Miltown and the North Quays have been affected this morning. ESB Networks say it will restore supply as quickly as possible.*

Storm Callum has hit the country overnight with strong winds and gusts of up to 130 kilometres an hour. A Status Orange weather alert is in effect for coastal counties as the storm sweeps in from the Atlantic.

It's expected to track northwards as the day goes on, with warnings in the west and north remaining until early this evening.

Schools and colleges will have to decide this morning if they need to close while businesses are also being urged to be on alert.

As people take to the roads this morning, their being told to slow down and take extreme care.

People are being warned not to approach fallen electricity wires and report them as soon as possible. ESB Networks have a full emergency response in place as Storm Callum crosses the country. They're warning people that fallen wires are live and any contact could be fatal.

A number of flights have been cancelled out of Dublin airport this morning. Passengers are advised to check with their airline before travelling to the airport. 

The Luas is operating as normal this morning. At present there are no DART services operating between Bray and Greystones.
