The Dublin woman who's terminally ill after being caught up in the Cervical Check scandal is welcoming the HSE boss' resignation.

Tony O'Brien informed the Health Minister last night just hours after refusing to step down.

Yesterday it emerged a HSE memo two years ago, advised pausing correspondences that would inform patients about the audit of their incorrect smear results.

While mum of five Emma Mhic Mhathúna says she's delighted Mr O'Brien is now gone from the HSE, his resignation is well overdue. And she's told TV3 she doesn't have faith in the government.

"They need to be reminded who exactly they're supposed to be taking care of. There's only so much we are going to take because if you keep pushing us, we are going to push back. It's long overdue and it's a disgrace in the end that ittook me to the point where I had to break down for that to happen."
