It's claimed the cost of replacing the light bulb at the top of the Spire will cost 10-thousand euro.
The light has been out since October because it's a complex operation to install a new one.
The city council says it hopes to fix the problem by the end of March.
Whoever takes on the job will have to go up inside the spire and onto a platform before replacing the unit.
