Irish athletes have won a total of four medals so far at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles.

Sarah Jane Johnston from Lurgan in Co Armagh won a bronze medal today in the 100 metre freestyle, on top of her third place in backstroke yesterday.

The team has now secured four medals, one silver, and three bronze.

Norena Savage from Malahide in Co Dublin is working as a volunteer at the games in LA. She says the athletes are really proud of their wins:

"Once you get involved for the first time, there's just a magic about it and you stay involved. All of the work that goes on here, all of the matches, all of the training that the coaches do, it all culminates when they go down to the awards. And the pride the athletes feel when they stand up on the roster is just, you just have to experience it. It's just wonderful."
