A team of 73 athletes are gearing up to represent Ireland in 12 sports at the Special Olympics in Berlin next month.

It's the largest inclusive sporting event in the world, and Team Ireland has a strong legacy on the world stage.

Athletes from across the country are training in Blanchardstown today for the prestigious games.

Fermoy footballer Stephen O'Leary is delighted to be part of the lineup.

He said: "The Special Olympics has been an amazing thing to me. I have been involved in it for 14 years, and it's been really special to me for years.

"I have achieved a lot over the last few years for soccer."
