A Fianna Fail TD feels the people of North Dublin have been ignored under revised plans for the Metro.
"Dublin Metro" will now service south side suburbs, with the line to run from Swords to Sandyford.
Previous plans envisioned the project departing from Swords and terminating in the city centre.
The National Planning Framework says the new line will be up and running by 2027 and will cost around €2.5 billion.
Darragh O'Brien TD feels there should have been an emphasis on getting the Metro North up and running as previously planned "We've been ignored - we've been ignored for the last 7 years by the Fine Gael Government. It should have been prioritised, it's the fastest growing area in the country and we only have one train line."
"The people of Swords etc are suffering from a dearth of public transport. We'just been long fingered again by the government."
Deputy O'Brien went on to say "Sandyford has a Luas already, and I'm just worried that by lengthening this project and the line itself that they're going to further lengthen the delivery time of a project that is long overdue and is so badly needed for Swords, the North Dublin area and in particular our airport."
