The Taoiseach says passing the Marriage Equality referendum next month would be the making of us as a nation.

With just over three weeks to go until Ireland heads to the polls, Fine Gael have launched their campaign for a Yes vote in the same-sex marriage referendum.

Enda Kenny says the change to the constitution has nothing to do with church marriages and all to do with civil ones.

He added that if we pass the referendum on May 22nd, it would show Ireland off in a new light.

However, not everyone agrees with the Taoiseach’s sentiments.

Fianna Fail supporter Ian Doyle is going against party ranks and is voting No..

"I think every child has a right to a mother and a father. A father, I'm speaking as a father of three adult children, a father can only be a father to a child. A mother can only be a mother to a child and I think they deserve that right.".

While voters here get to decide, a proposal to legalise gay marriage in the North has been rejected for a fourth time.
