Taoiseach Gets Tough Over Charities breach

The Taoiseach has promised to put an end to charities' abuse of public funds.  Enda Kenny's insisting he'll act tough as the Public Accounts Committee prepares to name four more health agencies in breach of the HSE pay cap.

The Public Accounts Committee will hear from HSE chief Tony O'Brien about what the HSE can do to stop health agencies ignoring public pay guidelines.  TDs are also expected to name four other agencies with similar salary arrangements to the CRC, after a number of anonymous whistleblowers came forward.

Ahead of this morning’s meeting the Taoiseach says abuse of public generosity must be stopped.

Representatives from the Department of Health, the HSE and the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform will all attend this morning's committee meeting which will see the issue of top-up payments to executives being examined.
