A Tallaght man has been found guilty of the murder of a young dad as he was sleeping in his bed. 39 year old Trevor Corr of Kiltalown Way had admitted stabbing James Humphries but denied murder.

It happened on the evening that Dublin won the All Ireland football final in September 2013. The court heard there had been a considerable amount of alcohol taken and the victim 32 year old James Humphries was stabbed while he was sleeping.

The jury was told the accused Trevor Corr said to a garda "‘Would you not stab him if he was sleeping in your bed." A witness agreed in court that Corr was very agitated at the scene and almost out of his mind.

Corr, was found guilty of murder this morning at the Central Criminal Court and was given the mandatory life sentence. He hugged his family before he was led away.
