NAMA has  announced that €170M will be made available for the redevelopment of the landmark Boland’s Mill buildings.

It will be known as Bolands Quay, and the development including office space and a small number of apartments is expected to be completed by 2018.

Work has already started on the site in the docklands, and the large slabs of concrete that make up the central old mill building are expected to be demolished in the next two weeks.

Mark Reynolds from property group Savills said "demolition starts in the next two weeks and will take about five to six months to complete."

"You'll see buildings start to come out of the ground within 12 months of the demolition process being completed", he said.

The confirmation of the figure was released as NAMA gave out more details on its plan to build 20,000 affordable homes around the country.

The agency says 78% of them will be in Dublin, in areas like Swords, Baldoyle, Stepaside and Dun Laoghaire. They're expected to cost around €300,000 each and will mostly be 3 and 4 bedroom family houses.

NAMA also says planning permission is due on 2.5 million square feet of commercial space in the Docklands in the weeks ahead.
