Swimmers Help Save Young Great White Shark

They tend to be the stuff of nightmares, but swimmers on the famous Cape Cod beach in Massachusetts have helped save the life of a young great white shark.

People began throwing buckets of sea water over the seven-foot male after he became stranded on the shore. He had been trying to catch seagulls on a sandbar when he got stuck.

A video, posted to YouTube by Mike Bartel, shows the shark struggling for breath, and wriggling in desperation before eventually being helped back into the water. 

Rescuers say the shark swam off alive and well.
