A new sunshine tax could affect Dublin's outdoor cafe culture.
New charges are to be brought in for streetside catering in the city.
Pubs, cafes and restaurants once paid €50 for outdoor tables and chairs but that could increase to as much as €500.
Under new rules, an annual fee of €125 for every table and four chairs is charged - outlets also have to pay a €635 fee for street signage. A further €100 fee is charged for licensing.
Hospitality bodies have warned that these extra charges could damage Dublin's booming 'café culture'.
