A teaching website is to provide free and unlimited access to its services to over 320 students in disadvantaged Dublin communities.

The move is part of Studyclix's 'Sponsor a School' programme, which has helped support over 6,000 DEIS school students in the last three years.

The company, in partnership with financial service provider Fiserv, will now extend the scheme to three DEIS schools south of the Liffey - Marian College, Ringsend College and CBS Westland Row.

A DEIS school is one that is located in a community where the socio-economic background is below the national average. They often lack resources for digital learning tools to help the transition from secondary school to third level.

Studyclix CEO and co-founder Luke Sanders attended a DEIS school before becoming a teacher and founding the company.

He said that these schools often have lower progression rates onto third-level education than schools in more advantaged areas.

"When I founded, one of the goals I had was to make the education system fairer for all students," he said.

He added: "I feel that by giving students in DEIS schools access to Studyclix at a lower price or with support of companies like Fiserv, [we can] give those students... the same opportunities that students in non-DEIS schools would have".
