Stillorgan residents are up in arms after they found out that their local pool, which they thought was going to be refurbished, is being filled in.
An emergency motion on the Glenalbyn pool will be discussed by councillors at Monday’s meeting of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.
The pool in Glenalbyn was closed suddenly in late 2013 after a health and safety report showed concerns about a number of problems with the roof.
Since then, locals in the area have fought to have it reopened and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council were looking at either refurbishing it or building a new centre at another location.
Now it seems the facility is gone forever after the council announced that due to the recent bad weather, they’ve started work to remove the roof and fill in the pool.
An emergency motion is being put forward by Councillor Martin at Monday’s meeting of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.
