Joint Provisional Liquidators Appointed to Mount Carmel Hospital
The High Court today (Friday 24th January 2014) appointed Joint Provisional Liquidators, Declan Taite and Anne O'Dwyer of RSM Farrell Grant Sparks to Mount Carmel Medical Group (South Dublin) Limited following a petition by the Company's directors. This is the operating company of Mount Carmel Hospital in Churchtown, Dublin. Mount Carmel is a private hospital which specialises in the provision of maternity services and non-emergency elective surgery.
The Joint Provisional Liquidators have taken Court mandated responsibility for the operation of the Hospital and will plan and manage an orderly full wind down.
All current patients in the Hospital will be fully cared for in Mount Carmel. Obstetrics patients scheduled over the coming days will also be fully cared for in Mount Carmel. All of these patients will be contacted by phone to confirm these arrangements.
It is envisaged that obstetrics patients who are booked into Mount Carmel for maternity services in the weeks and months ahead will be transferred to alternative maternity hospitals. The Joint Provisional Liquidators will work closely with the HSE as part of this transition. All of these patients will be contacted to facilitate alternative arrangements over the coming week.
There will be no more elective surgical procedures carried out at the Hospital from today. All of these patients will be contacted by phone to confirm these arrangements.
The Joint Provisional Liquidators will liaise closely with the Hospital's medical consultants and Hospital management to ascertain the position in relation to any deposits that may be outstanding to patients.
Hospital medical and administrative staff should report for duty as rostered over the coming days. The Joint Provisional Liquidators will liaise closely with Hospital staff to advise them of the details of the wind down and how it impacts on them.
A helpline and email facility has been established by the Joint Provisional Liquidators to cater for queries from patients. The helpline will operate from 9 am to 5 pm daily.
