St James's hospital has cancelled planned surgeries today to try to contain a flu outbreak.
It's one of three facilities including the Mercy and CUH in Cork, taking precautions to avoid the spread of the illness.
Emergency Medicine Consultant Dr Fergal Hickey is warning about the risk of flu spreading through emergency departments.
