Gardai say officers in Dublin should get a special allowance because it's more expensive to live and work here.
The Garda Representative Association which acts for front line officers, is due to meet for its annual conference tomorrow.
Ahead of that it has outlined some of the topics up for discussion.
One of them is a proposal to give gardai in Dublin a subsidy as it’s more costly to live in the capital.
The conference will also hear calls for new gardai to be paid better.
Officers will also debate if it’s realistic to keep the force unarmed at a time where violent crime and the threat of international terrorism are on the rise.
