There could be some pretty big changes coming to Snapchat. According to 9to5Google, a developer has discovered code references which apparently reveal that Snapchat is working on a revamped version of chat called 'ChatV2'.
Nothing has been confirmed yet but developers also claim that the code 'chat_stream_audio' and 'chat_incoming_audio' suggest audio and video calling features will be introduced to Snapchat in the future along with a streaming feature similar to Periscope. The pieces of code were reportedly found in the 9.21.1.0 version of Snapchat that was released in December.
