In the past few minutes, seven members of a Dublin gang have been jailed for a total of 72 years for a violent burglary in Co. Tipperary.
The men, all aged in their 20s and from the Coolock area, beat Mark Corcoran in front of his wife and daughters in November 2013.
They burst into their rural home armed with a sawn-off shotgun, a handgun and a machete.
Gardai could hear the “terrified screams” of the couple’s children after a 999 call was left open during the raid.
The gang was caught on their way back to Dublin following a high-speed car chase on the motorway network.
