Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council says a plan to buy ten homes for social housing at a southside development is not a done deal.
Carrickmines Green is a former ghost estate with a number of apartments that have structural defects.
Residents have tried to block the sale of the units to the local authority because they want the receiver to fix their fire safety issues first.
Today the local authority has moved to reassure homeowners.
A spokesperson says a team is still assessing what structural defects may need to be fixed, and whether the homes will provide value for money.
DLRCC says negotiations are continuing and it will not follow through with the purchase unless its satisfied the apartments comply with regulations.
