Reports Government Has Scrapped Broadcasting Charge

The Fianna Fail Spokesperson for Communications is calling for an explanation as to why the proposed broadcasting charge is being shelved.

The €160 charge was intended to replace the current TV licence fee and was due for introduction in January.

However Fine Gael Ministers now say the plan has been scrapped, and won't come in in the lifetime of this government.
