A reindeer has been caught after running away from a Christmas event at a Tesco store in England.

Bjorn slipped his rope after apparently being startled by a car horn and made a dash for freedom in Nottinghamshire this afternoon.

He was found in a nearby garden by a woman dressed in 'festive' clothing. The company that organised the event, The Animal Company, said Bjorn is now "resting in his stable".

Warren Porter managed to take a photo of the reindeer dashing up a hill. The 23-year-old told the Nottingham Post that "I locked my doors and thought 'you're not getting in here, I've got carrots in my boot'.

Witnesses reported that Bjorn was almost hit by a bus, while a Tesco spokesman said they are "pleased he was back in time to help Santa with some important deliveries this week".
