The Rehab Group has revealed its Chief Executive is paid €240,000 a year.

The Dublin charity decided to reveal the salary after questions were raised about how the group's been spending public money.

Rehab says Angela Kerin's salary is significantly lower than the market rate, and also says she's waived her bonus for the past four years.

A statement - released this evening - shows Ms. Kerins pays 6 percent of her salary into a pension fund and also has use of a company car which she pays benefit in kind tax on.

However, the head of Fundraising Ireland, Anne Hannify says the salary is quite high:

"This is actually quite out of kilter with even what the top CEO's of charities are being paid at the moment. And actually, you know the real issue here I feel and Fundraising Ireland would say is the lack of transparency and how long it took Rehab to reveal this salary. And that was really damaging to our sector over the last couple of months. And it's impacted on an awful lots of charities and fundraising is down."

The board didn't reveal what expenses, if any, were claimed by the Chief Executive.

The charity - which provides services to children and adults with disabilities - came under pressure to release the figures by the Taoiseach and the Health Minister after the CRC scandal.

The Rehab board are expected to appear before the Dail's public accounts committee soon where they're expected to be quizzed on how they spend public funding as well as the CEO's salary.
