A man who stole over €27,000 from his friends by selling them bogus holiday packages has been given more time to pay them back.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard Aaron Weinrib of Cambridge Villas, Rathmines used the money to fund a “cocaine lifestyle”.
Aaron Weinrib pretended to be an agent for a reputable tour operator and sold bogus holidays to 21 friends and acquaintances.
One of them paid for a four night stay in the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas.
Another booked a break in New York and another paid for a package holiday to South Africa.
All of them received documentation bearing the logo of the travel operator but later realised they’d been conned.
Following his arrest, Weinrib accepted he’d never worked for the company and admitted making over €27,000 in the scam.
He’s so far raised a third of what he stole but his sentencing has been adjourned until July to allow him more time to pay back his victims.
