Questions For Dublin's Former City Manager Over Irish Water

Dublin's former city manager will today be questioned on his qualifications for the top job at Irish Water.

John Tierney will appear before the Oireachtas Environment Committee to discuss issues surrounding the setup of the new water utility.

Mr Tierney was manager of Dublin City Council during the planning stages of the controversial incinerator at Poolbeg, which has so far cost 96 million euro with construction yet to begin.

The Irish Water CEO also came under fire last month over the utility's set-up costs which have so far amounted to 180 million euro - 85 million of which is to spent on consultancy fees.
