Price rises for bus and rail users are on the way, with some due to begin next week.
The National Transport Authority says it has tried to keep increases as low as possible so the current level of services can be maintained.
Irish Rail fares will rise by an average of 9 per cent for DART, short hop and intercity commuter services.
Dublin Bus will see a range of increases of up to 10 per cent to create an extra 4.5 million euro in revenue, while some Luas tickets will cost over 6 per cent more.
Bus Eireann will push prices up by an average of 3.5 per cent.
The National Transport Authority says customer can make savings by using Leap cards, where fare increases will be lower.
