A judge wants to see a psychiatric report from the Central Mental Hospital before he sentences a man for stabbing a Dublin GAA star.
Mark Lavelle, with an address at Basin Street, Dublin 8 attacked Jonny Cooper on Dorset Street last September.
Jonny Cooper was on his way home from a night out in the early hours of September 20th when a man ran across the road and stabbed him in the head, face and neck.
The All-Ireland winning footballer was treated for 11 stab wounds.
Mark Lavelle was due to be sentenced today for both the attack on the Na Fianna defender and the theft of a taxi on the same date, but his lawyers asked for an adjournment because they’re still waiting for a psychiatric report from the Central Mental Hospital to be completed.
The judge said he was eager to see the report and put his sentence hearing back for three months.
