Proposals To Change Some Street Names In Dublin

Some Dublin City Councillors want a conversation about changing the names of a number of streets in the city.

Grafton Street, Henry Street and Gardiner Street are among those named after British aristocrats.

Councillors recently rejected a proposal to name a new apartment complex ''Gardiner Court.''

''We can have a conversation about changing names and where that might be appropriate. One of the ones suggested recently was LaTouche Bridge in Portobello. They are part of the LaTouche family and they are connected with slavery in the Caribbean so perhaps that's one of the ones that we could consider changing.''
