Fingal county council is proposing a one euro an hour fee as part of a change to bye-laws. The first hour will be free for drivers.
Beach car parks at the likes of Portmarnock, Donabate and Portrane are affected. A public consultation is currently underway that will run until the 21st of August.
Fianna Fáil Councillor Cathal Haughey says it's sparked opposition;
"It's just not something that sits right with me. I think they are public amenities, they're good for people's mental health, get out, get a bit of fresh air."
