A 15-storey residential tower, planned for Ringsend, has been refused permission.

The proposal for the apartment block on York Road involved knocking down one and two storey buildings on the site and replacing them with 48 apartments.

The development would have been almost as tall as Liberty Hall.

However Dublin city council has turned down planning permission saying it would have been overbearing and would have had an unacceptable impact on the visual amenities and character of the area.
