The Irish Aviation Authority says it's monitoring developments in the investigation into the Shoreham Airshow crash in England very closely.

Eleven people were killed when a plane crashed into a busy road during the display at the weekend.

It emerged last night that the Hawker Hunter Jet which crashed had taken part in a number of Irish air shows this summer.

The IAA says the aircraft took part in Shannon, Bray and Foynes Air Displays over recent weeks.

Yesterday the UK authority banned the use of aerobatic displays by vintage aircraft while investigations into the weekend's disaster continue.

For now they'll only be allowed conduct flypasts.

The IAA says air shows here have strict safety protocols and those wishing to run them must adhere to regulations.

It says it constantly reviews safety regulations here as part of an ongoing process and will take action as more becomes clear about the Shoreham incident if it's deemed necessary.
