New Orleans police have released composite sketches of the two men suspected of robbing and shooting Garda Brian Hanrahan.
Mr Hanrahan, who is 30 years old, was on holiday in the French Quarter when police said he met a man who offered to take him to a party.
Mr Hanrahan stopped at an ATM and withdrew $200, the pair then continued to walk through the city.
According to police, a second man approached Mr Hanrahan and demanded he hand over the cash.
When Mr Hanrahan refused, police said the man produced a gun and shot him twice.
According to police, the two suspects rifled through his pockets and took the $200 before running from the area.
There is a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible.
The NOPD stated in a public appeal for help: "You do not have to give your name nor testify to receive the reward."
