There will be major disruption to some rail services in Dublin this weekend as work continues to restore the roof of Pearse Station.
The roof, which dates back to the 1880s, is badly corroded and is considered a crucial safety project.
Pearse Station will have to close for a total of 13 weekends over the next year so the €17 million restoration can be completed.
These works on the October Bank Holiday weekend, as well as track works in the Lansdowne Road and Glasnevin Junction areas (Saturday and Sunday), and Bray to Greystones (Saturday to Monday) areas, will result in the following service alterations.
Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th October
- DART services are suspended between Dublin Connolly and Dun Laoghaire, and between Bray and Greystones. Dublin Bus will accept rail tickets for customers travelling to/from southside stations, and a bus transfer will operate between Bray and Greystones.
- Maynooth line services will not serve Drumcondra Station due to works at Glasnevin Junction.
- Rosslare Europort/Dublin services will operate with bus transfers between Greystones and Dublin Connolly
- Normal northside DART and Northern/Maynooth/M3 Commuter services will operate to/from.
Bank Holiday Monday 29th October
- DART services are suspended between Bray and Greystones. Bus transfers will operate between the two stations.
- A Sunday service will operate on other DART and Commuter routes.
- Rosslare Europort/Dublin services will operate with bus transfers between Greystones and Bray.
The works will take place between September 2018 and July 2020, with a total of up to 13 dedicated construction weekends are likely to be required during this time to allow for crane operation.
This will require the suspension of train services through the station during these weekends, meaning train services will not operate between Connolly and Grand Canal Dock.
