With children beginning to return to school, parents, guardians and teachers are being urged to ensure that road safety is a priority.

As part of their back to school campaign, the Road Safety Authority (RSA) says teachers can register online to get packs, including high-vis vests for their pupils, as part of their back to school campaign.

Three children under the age of 14 have died on Irish roads during the first eight months of this year.

CEO of the RSA, Moyagh Murdock, says three deaths is too many:

"So far this year, we have seen three children lose their lives on our roads, tragically. That's three too many. It is a big improvement on last year where we had 14 children under the age of 14 lose their lives. Thankfully, we have seen an improvement here, but we can't be complacent, and three children is just too many."
