A northside Dublin woman is hoping to be the first asylum seeker to be elected as a councillor.
Social Democrats activist Ellie Kisyombe hails from Malawi and founded pop-up restaurant Our Kitchen.
She told the Sunday Times she plans to stand for election to Dublin City Council in the North Inner City ward.
Kisyombe decided to run for office after finding out being resident gave her the right to serve on the council.
