Alcohol and drug abuse and mental illness are still the main reasons that children end up being put in state care.

The "Child Care Law Reporting Project" has released it's first report for 2014 this morning.

And it also shows there's massive pressure on the country's family law courts.

CCLRP director Dr Carol Coulter says isolated mums parenting alone are the most at risk of having their children taken into care:
