Nearly two thirds of Irish people are in favour of holding a referendum on the repeal of the 8th amendment - which outlaws abortion, and gives the unborn child equal rights to the mother.
The Millward Brown poll in the Sunday Independent says 63 per cent of people support the right to abortion in cases of fatal foetal abnormality.
However, less than a third of those surveyed believed abortion should be freely available outside of circumstances like rape, health risk and risk of suicide.
