A radical new initiative in Mountjoy Prison will see songs by Amy Winehouse and Eminem played to inmates in a bid to help kick their drug problems.

The pilot scheme by The Harmony Project uses 'substance-abuse-themed music' to expose the "denial barriers of addiction" and reveal its root causes.

The goal is to 'educate, increase self-awareness, and build preventative strategies' for drink and drug users.

The evidence-based approach is endorsed by the HSE and if successful, could be rolled out in jails across the country.
