328 staff at Mount Carmel Hospital in Dublin are to lose their jobs after the High Court appointed provisional liquidators to the hospital.

60 of Mount Carmel ‘s 230 patients are inpatients who are being told they will be cared for at the hospital.

But as of today no more elective procedures will be carried out - and obstetric patients will be transferred to other maternity hospitals.

The private hospital, which was dependent on financial support from Nama, has debts of over 39 million euro.
