A low temperature alert remains in place until ten o'clock this morning.
Met Eireann issued the status yellow waring as sub zero temperatures returned to parts of the country overnight.
The weather is to remain settled over the coming days but another icy blast is due to hit this weekend.
Liz Walsh from Met Eireann says it could lead to snow next week.
"There's a trend towards increasingly cold weather through the rest of this week. It will turn very cold, in fact, from Sunday night or early Monday onwards. There's an increased threat of wintry precipitation from the east. Temperatures will be well below zero at night. By day the temperature will be in low single figures. About four or five degrees, at best, in Dublin."
