Ministers Pass Plans For Plain Tobacco Packets

The Health Minister says he's on course to make Ireland smoke-free by 2025.

The Government's passed draft laws which will see all tobacco packaging standardised.

The legislation will make it illegal to use branding such as trademarks and logos on the packets.

Dr. James Reilly says he's well prepared for a fight with cigarette companies.

Minsters have now sent the plans to the Dáil's Health Committee for feedback.
