Facebook and Instagram are to follow Twitter in a move to paid subscriptions.
According to the AFP News Agency, Meta will launch 'Meta Verified' - a subscription service allowing social media users to verify their accounts "with a government ID, to get a blue badge".
Twitter has sparked controversy as of late, for a similar move.
Meta's new service will first be rolled out in Australia and New Zealand.
Subscriptions will start at $11.99.
