Almost 70% of homeless families in Dublin are coming from Blanchardstown, Ballymun and Finglas.
Focus Ireland has been looking at what parts of Dublin are most affected by the homeless crisis.
Nearly 40% of families in emergency accommodation are from Blanchardstown and Mulhuddart, which is on the Tainiste and Health Minister's own doorstep.
Just under 30% are from the Finglas Ballymun areas, 13% in Lucan Clondalkin and 11% in Drumcondra and Donaghmede.
The charity also says over two thirds of homeless children are under 8. They're travelling almost 9km on average to get from their emergency shelter to school every day. At the time the report was carried out, one child was living 34 kilometres away from their school.
Separately the Simon Communities of Ireland has found a quarter of Irish adults are worried about being able to afford to keep a roof over their head. Nearly 20% are worried about losing their home.
The findings from the survey of 2,000 people show that 30% are worried about the number of people sleeping rough. The charity hopes the poll results will keep the housing issue at the top of the General Election agenda.
Simon Community spokesperson Niamh Randall says 'the depth of people's concerns surprised even them'.
She says housing and homelessness should be one of the major issues of the election campaign.
She goes on to say the rise in rents over the last few years has only made matters worse.
