A 20 year old man is to go on trial for the murder of a teenager in North Dublin earlier this year.

Brandon Gavin, of Brookdale Road, Rivervalley, Swords, was previously charged with causing serious harm to Marius Mamaliga at Forest Court in Swords on the 23rd of February this year.

Marius was said to have been in his car when an assailant stabbed him in the neck, severing an artery.

He died at Beaumont Hospital as a result of the injuries three days later. He was 19 year old at the time.

Mr. Gavin appeared before Cloverhill District Court this morning, where the charge against him was upgraded to murder, and the previous charge withdrawn.

He was remanded in custody to appear before the court again on July 26th for a book of evidence.
