A man is due to be sentenced today for leading Gardai on a high-speed chase across the city centre in January of last year.
Leonard Dumbrell, with an address in Gorey, Co. Wexford almost knocked down some pedestrians as he sped along O'Connell bridge.
Dumbrell stole a Renault Clio from right under the owner's nose in Ballsbridge the day after New Year's Day 2013.
He drove it at speed through the heart of the city, often driving the wrong way up one-way streets
Gardai chased the car through heavy traffic and as it went down Pearse St before he swerved across two lanes on O'Connell Bridge and narrowly avoided hitting several pedestrians.
He eventually crashed at Temple Bar Square and tried to escape on foot but he was caught a short distance from the abandoned car.
The father of one is due to be sentenced today.
