A man has admitted his role in the attempted murder of a Kinahan cartel target four years ago.

33-year-old David Duffy, of Greenfort Lawns, Clondalkin, Dublin, will be sentenced in June.

James Gately’s movements had been closely followed in the lead up to the attempt on his life on May 10th 2017.

On that day, he was shot five times while sitting in his car outside a petrol station in north Dublin.

Luckily for him, he was wearing a bulletproof vest after being warned by gardaí that his life was in danger, and he survived the attack.

In February, the gunman was jailed for 20 years, and another man was jailed for helping him to destroy the getaway car afterwards.

Today, David Duffy admitted helping a criminal organisation to carry out the hit. He accepted he was involved in the four months leading up to it.

The exact details of his involvement will be laid out at his sentence hearing in June.
