A new political poll has shown a rise in support for Fine Gael, while Sinn Féin’s vote has fallen.

The Behaviour & Attitudes poll for tomorrow’s Sunday Times shows Sinn Féin’s vote down three per cent, while satisfaction with party leader Gerry Adams is down 8 per cent.

Tomorrow’s poll is the first major poll since the release of the Smithwick Tribunal report and it suggests that Sinn Féin’s stance on the report hasn’t been popular.

The party’s vote is down three points to 15 per cent, while satisfaction in Gerry Adams’ leadership is down 8 points to 33 per cent suggesting a poor public reaction to his comments that the IRA murderers believed they were ‘doing their duty’.

Fine Gael remains the most popular party, up five points to 30, probably as a result of the successful exit from the bailout.

Fianna Fail are unchanged on 21, the same level as independents and others, while Labour are also unchanged on 11.

Satisfaction in the government is up 11 points, while Enda Kenny, Micheal Martin and Eamon Gilmore have all seen jumps in their popularity.
